St John's College is one of Fiji's oldest Catholic mission school, established at Nasarete (Nazareth) a small hill within the Cawaci Catholic Mission land in 1894.
The school opened with 12 students and by 1906 there were 80 boys from all parts of Fiji. By 1929 there were 100 pupils and in 1938 there were 300.

Today, the school caters for 540 students of which 14 students comprising 4 girls and 10 boys are from Papua New Guinea.

The school was first known to Mr Harry Landu and his wife Susan.  They heard about the discipline of the school and did not hesitate to send their two sons and niece to further their education at St John’s College. Pio Landu and Emmanuel Landu who are the PNG pioneers students of the school completed their Form 5 in 2011 while Lina Landu Siwi graduated with Form 7 Certificate in (2012). Mark Makeso, Neville Kakao and Daniella Boas joined in 2011 while Jeremiah Landu, Marie-Stella Kiliu and Richard Wagambie (Junior) joined the rest of the students in 2012.

The numbers of PNG students are increasing every year because of the discipline of the school.

As a result this year, (2013) Seven (7) new students were enrolled at St John’s College. The students are; Eugene Togimwara, Martin Kamdel, Garry Palangat, Solomon Wartovo, Alex Matlaun and Glen Manoi.
